The title sounds like one of Johnny Depps never ending series of pirate movies, and it is no co-incidence. Initially the purpose of The Trip was to sail to Caribia, enjoy the ride - and sail back again.
But plans are for changing.
We DID get to Caribia.
We build friendships along the way both inside the boat and outside. Outside the hull also includes a lot of friends and relatives at home - sometimes worrying about our location, status and maybe mental health.
We visited Johnnys movie set at Wallibou Bay a couple of times, we saw a lot of nice places, met wonderful people - and learned maybe a thing or two on the way that was larger than the trip itself.
We also came back - although by airplane - S/Y Ahead is currently resting on the hard at Chaguaramas, Trinidad (lovely place by the way)
Now is the time to start planning for the Trip part II.
First step here is that www.syahead.dk turned into a blog :-)
Its more than a blog - its a team-blog meaning that anyone who wants to create entries here can either do that as comments to existing articles here - or ask me to register them as editors - which I happily will do.
The aim is to have one convinient place to keep all information, communication, documentation and other "tions" using Google standard tools like Blogger, Maps, Picasa, Docs, Apps etc.
Calendar is a Google calendar for S/Y Ahead. You can see who is skipper, appr where she is sailing and any other appointments that are relevant (like our upcoming reunion)
Map is a Google map showing the routes sailed during the trip - and soon will contain sketches of routes planned. Click on the routes to access relevant information, pictures etc. about that route.
Moments (for Magic Moments) is an organised way of searching trough pictures, videos, music, documents etc.
The Ship contains information about S/Y Ahead including links to all manuals that we have describing the equipment aboard.
Join Us is a FAQ about sailing with us - practical information assembled over time. Please contribute - its easy: just comment!
Contact is a FAQ about how to get in touch with us - that can be difficult from time to time.
So right now today - make sure you either follow this blog - or use this link to enter your email.
That way you will be informed when somebody writes here. Very soon you will find an imvitation to our reunion - taking place in Hals, Denmark at 2 - 4 of September.
All the best,
Captain Computer
